Privacy policy
Plain-English summary of what we do with your information.
Last updated 22 October 2026.
Who we are
This website is run by HGM Contracting, a tree surgery and agricultural contracting business based near Nailsea in North Somerset. We are the controller of the personal information described below. You can contact us at enquiries@hgmcontracting.com or on 07955 740460.
What we collect
This website does not use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics. We only receive information that you choose to send us:
- when you use the quote form: your name, phone number, email address, location or postcode, the service you need, your message, and any photos you attach;
- when you email or phone us: whatever you tell us.
Photos attached through the quote form are resized in your browser before they are sent, which removes any location data stored in the image. Please avoid sending photos that show people.
Why we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry, visit the site, prepare a quote and, if you go ahead, carry out and invoice the work. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in running our business and responding to enquiries.
Who sees it
Quote-form submissions are emailed to our business mailbox, and a plain-text copy of the enquiry (without photos) is kept in a private file on our hosting account so that no enquiry is lost. Our website hosting and email are provided by 123 Reg / GoDaddy, who process the data on our behalf. We do not sell your data or share it for marketing. If you follow a link to Instagram or Facebook, those services have their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only for as long as needed to respond and to keep sensible business and accounting records, and we delete them when they are no longer needed or when you ask us to.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email enquiries@hgmcontracting.com and we'll help. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page.
