One-off cuts and regular maintenance
Whether you need a one-off cut to get an overgrown hedge back under control, or a regular visit each year to keep it that way, we'll agree a plan and a fixed price. Regular maintenance is usually cheaper than rescuing a hedge that's been left for years, and keeps it denser and healthier.
Garden hedges and farm hedgerows
For gardens and smaller properties we use powered hedge cutters for a crisp, even finish. For longer runs, field boundaries and roadside hedges, a tractor-mounted flail gets the job done quickly and economically.
Nesting season: when we cut
All wild birds, their nests and eggs are protected by law while nests are in use, and the main nesting season runs roughly from March to August. Heavy hedge cutting is best kept to autumn and winter, which is also better for the hedge. If work has to happen in the nesting season, a careful check for active nests comes first.
Overgrown hedges and conifers
Some hedges can be cut hard back and will regrow. Others can't — conifer hedges such as leylandii generally won't regrow from bare wood, so cutting too far back leaves permanent brown gaps. We'll tell you honestly what your hedge can take before we start.
